What do you believe to be more important, science or regilion, and why?

IMO I will definitely go with science. Science is more important, which is the base for human existense. Right from the invention of fire and wheel everything is science. religion came only after that. Science effects everthing in our lifes, but religion is just a matter of personal choice.

Brookes, I believe that science and religion have their own place in human existence. There are a lot of things that science still cannot explain. Lets say for example evolution. We all agree that life evolves, but science cannot explain where the first bacteria, the first cell came from. We all agree that before the Universe started to expand there was the Big bang, but what was before the Big bang.

So religion is not just about superstitions, its about the unknown and how we humans deal with it. Of course science cannot be proven wrong, but neither has science been able to prove that there is no God. So this discussion can go on forever, but it is upto us to take the positives from both sides of the argument and use it to better our own lives.

I've never been much of a religious person. I believe someone (or something) is watching over all of us though.  I feel the same way as sexykunal. Science and religion compliment one another in some ways. One thing can explain some things that other can't. Personally though, I do go more towards Science as it is based on facts rather than faith and beliefs. I have yet to hear a religious explanation for dinosaurs >_>

i think that i am more towards religion as there has to be some explanation as to why life is on this planet. why not anywhere else? why as humans, for millenniums we cannot explain why we feel that someone is watching over us. no science is not everything. there is a god, a supreme being, someone who has the ability to create miracles. science should only be used to research into how to make our lives better, but all we have done is cause pollution, global warming, weapons of mass destruction, extinction of animal/plant species.

science and religion cannot coexist when it comes to a lot of topics, but they feed off each other. if science cannot prove something, then religion takes over, and scientists then try to work extra hard to prove that religion is wrong.

That is very confusing topic for some who will not a religious. There are many explanations and procedures which science can't explain. I have researched many religions and in my opinion, science is far behind religions and religions have more firm explanations. I have read one of other post that why we have life on this planet? It is mistaken, Astrologers discover water and life signs in other planet as well. So there might be other species on other planet. We can't deny AFTs and aliens as well.

Both have their place in society.  I'm driven by science and don't believe in religions as they are defined today.  But for many people religion is at their core and they would not function without it.  Many people need religion to drive them in life.

Science.  It's how you build bridges and skyscrs and cure diseases.  I believe that religion was started to explain things before science was available to explain things like the sun and the planets and earthquakes.

That is very sensitive and I know everyone can talk on it for several hours. In simple words, I shall say that religions are more strong as compared to science. I am sure religions have no hypos  like science. Almost all religions bases on realities.

Science!!!! I think that religion just tried to fill in the things that they didnt know or understand with storys which glorified themselves. I mean whats more realistic, that we've evolved from primapes over millions of years or that we were just plonked on earth one day. Hmm,

Personally i am all for science i think it just makes more sense and leaves less things to chance than religion. I do respect peoples choices in their religion though unless they shove it down my throat. The idea that a single being created everything just doesn't seem to make sense to me the theory of evolution in my eyes makes so much more sense. Religion just seems to cause so many problems in the world i mean how many wars do you see started over religion?!?!

Science for me. Everyone's entitled to their own beliefs, but a quick look at the morning news will show you how much involvement religion has with all the wars going around the globe. Also, i choose to live life the way i intend to, not according to beliefs that are still theories.

I don't believe in religion, but I do feel it plays an important role in today's society.  It plays a role in keeping people away from things they probably shouldn't do (morally).  Without religion, we can only imagine the chaos it might bring.  Religion is one of those factors that separates individuals but nevertheless it's also one of those things we can't live with but can't live without.

Science is important because it's something that will exist whether we want it to or not - Science exists with or without human beings on earth.  It's a very broad field.

I believe that science and religion has an equal importance . We must not try to separate them from one an other .If we see deeply and study religious teachings they are not against the rules of science.
