Many people think feminism is a very bad word. In fact, many feminists don't even realise they are one. People assume that a feminist is a person who believes women are above men in the society. This is a common misconception. Feminism is simply the belief that women deserves equal rights and opportunities as men.
What are your opinions and feelings about women having equal rights & opportunities?

This misconception is because the people who fight for equal rights have misconstrued the message.

Women are proud of Feminism and they should be. I have never noticed that someone took it in wrong sense. In our modern and educated environment all of us know about it and there is no confusion near me.

This misconception is because the people who fight for equal rights have misconstrued the message. How so? Very recently when I wrote about being a feminist on my blog, all my friends (both men & women) were in shock. They asked me why on earth would I use such a harsh word to describe myself. Many of them completely misunderstood, they assumed that being a feminist is being a woman who feel men are below me. I think most modern women today believe in feminism. That doesn't mean we're against staying at home as a housewife - hell, if my husband was earning enough and told me it would be better for our kids to be raised by their mother who's there all the time I'd definitely consider staying at home. That doesn't mean I'm not a feminist? It simply means I also don't look down on stay-at-home dads. So far I've been more successful than all the guys I've dated...if that continues and I marry a guy who's not that successful but loves kids and cooks, if he wants to be a stay-at-home dad and play computer games all day as long as he babysit the kids while I'm gone I'll completely support him.

I remember watching an epsiode of the Apprentice (UK) this year and someone asked (runner-up) Christina if she was a feminist and she almost flinched in horror and staunchly denied it.
As I've grown up on Harry Potter, you can kind construe the messages brought out in the books of prejudice and choices into todays world, and I am just like Harry in my beliefs - we all got to be equal, that way, we stand a chance

You are very right and women can contribute equally to men. I think era of staying women at home has gone. I shall like to read some more on your blog. I am in favor of women's rights and contribution.

I think that the women should have the right and opportunities against the men. This is an age of free economy. Now a days there is a tough competition in every department of life.then why women should not have equal rights and opportunities.
