Freewares are widely available online.  However, some softwares are...well...too good to be free so in order to use them you would have to either download the trialware version (if any) or simply buy the software.

However, many people don't believe in buying softwares, can't afford them, or they feel it's simpler to download the illegally-patched full version of the software (which can be found online).

What are your opinions on this and how wrong is it? Do you think serious measures should be taken to prevent such 'theft' or should the law just leave people alone on this?

I don't like stolen or so called pirated softwares. Without any doubt we have a lot of choices and we can find an open source free software for any paid software. If I couldn't afford any of that then I always go with open source. As a example someone can use GIMPS instead of Photoshop and there are many more.

Frankly, I used to buy pirated software from a CD store near to my house. I understand this is not a legal, but the price is so much the difference compare with the original one.

I live in Lithuania and can say about all my country. NO ONE HAS LEGAL OS. Why? :
1. Windows Xp costs ~1000 LT (Lithuanian Litas)
2. Minimal payout in Lithuania is ~600 LT. And a lot of people working for theese jobs. To get payout more than 1500lt is normal.
If people want legal version, they will get to pay all their payouts and live without food.

yes i agree, piracy is rampant because of the ridiculous prices of software. if these companies lowered their prices more people would be able to afford to buy the products.

Steeling is not a good habit .Steeling of the software is a crime .I think serious measures should be taken to prevent such illegal theft .Law must not just leave the people who commit such  crime.
